Motorhead Glove

Another from the sketchbook archive of products that didn't make the cut - the Motorhead glove. Originally designed to complement the industry defining Icon Motorhead jacket, the glove was scuttled for reasons we no longer recall. But as often happens with conceptual product design, certain elements would find a life on future products. In this case the knit cuff would be end up on the Burner glove and the knuckle construction on the TiMax.

It sacrificed itself so that others may live

Burner

From deep within the Icon archives comes the Burner helmet. Released around 2004, the Alliance Burner helped define Icon's identity within a crowded (and oh so boring) helmet market.

The Burner graphic was originally drawn on the Mainframe helmet, but due to production delays ended up on the Alliance instead

Preliminary airbrushed shell - we used to produce a single airbrushed helmet to validate our graphic concepts prior moving into production. These one-offs helmets are now on display in the Icon private reserve.

Rather crude but still strangely cool moto skull

Balanced & Blueprinted - just like our Camaro's

True Inspiration

This was the drawing that started it all for me. It's drawn by a designer named Kenny Safford - the O.G. of modern moto design. My mom found it in a magazine (Popular Mechanics I think) and gave it to me. I remember just staring at this drawing and thinking - this is what I want to do with my life. I want to design motorcycle gear. So I went back to school, got a degree in Industrial Design, and dreamed of creating my own street motorcycle brand. Eleven years later Icon was released to market. I hope someday one of my products inspires someone the way this sketch still inspires me. -Kurt
